One of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, Santa Lucia is located midway in the Eastern Caribbean chain between Martinique and St. Vincent, and north of Barbados. St. Lucia is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, with a shape that is said to resemble either a mango or an avocado. The capital is Castries, where about one third of the population.

Saint Lucia is an island nation in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. It is also known as the "Helen of the West Indies," as the island switched between British and French control so often resembles the mythical Helen of Troy.

In natural beauty, St. Lucia, seems lifted from a South Pacific island and set in the Caribbean. Its dramatic twin coastal peaks, the Pitons, are rising to 2000 meters from the sea. Bright feathers of tropical birds abound, including endangered species like the indigenous St. Lucia parrot. Second only to bananas, tourism is vital to the economy of St. Lucia and it is expected that the economic importance of tourism will continue to rise as the market for bananas becomes more competitive. Saint Lucia tends to be popular due to its tropical climate and landscapes and its many beaches and resorts.

The rugged coastline of the island and reef lovely offer excellent diving and snorkelling. The rainforest preserves of St. Lucia interior mountain is one of the best places in the Caribbean for hiking and observing birds.

There is plenty of nightlife in St. Lucia, in addition to the entertainment offered by hotels.

Majority of the cart is in Castries, where the main streets are William Peter Boulevard and Bridge Street. Many stores will sell goods tax free prices.

The Diamond's lush Botanical Soufriere gardens are in the Santa Lucia. In 1713, Louis XIV gave this estate of 2,000 acres of Normandy, three brothers, their descendants are still the owners. Follow the ravine of the farm and was left to the Diamond Waterfall. Besides the falls are the thermal baths of diamond. The water from this spring sulfur color changes several times a day, and is said to have healing powers. The baths were built in 1784 by French soldiers stationed in the West Indies.
