The Maldives 'Big Five'
When it comes to safari trips to Africa, we often hear the phrase "Big Five" that was originally used to describe animals that were more difficult to hunt on foot. Now that hunting is not as popular among tourists, but is seeing the animals, the a term used to describe the five animals that are sought by attendees Safari. They are the lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard and rhino Black. If you are lucky enough to go on safari to Africa, these are the five animals that are looking for, and other popular animals like the giraffe and zebra.
In the Maldives, the success of underwater safari can also be defined by the "Big Five". or "Top Five". If one takes a dive vacation in the Maldives, you should be on the lookout for these five animals and if you see them all, you will leave this island a paradise for scuba diver very happy.
1. The shark whale. The world's largest fish, the whale shark is by far the most popular animal in the waters of the Maldives. This shark is one of the sweetest creatures you can expect to find under water. Huge, growing about 40 feet long and are characterized by gray body covered with white spots. The best thing about the whale shark is not even have to be a diver to see one. You can learn about this giant just by snorkeling.
2. The Manta Ray. The largest of the family of Ray, the manta can have a 'wingspan' of 25 feet. They slide around under the water like enormous birds, feeding plankton and pose no risk to humans. Divers often find Manta Rays in Maldives, dive sites particularly in the
Manta Rays enter shallow water for cleaning their gills Suckerfish.
3. Gray Reef Shark. The gray Shark Reef is one of many shark species living in the waters of the Maldives. Usually non-aggressive reef shark is a beautiful creature that can be seen hanging around the coral reefs where they like to feed on eat small reef fish.
4. Brunette. There is a large absolute amount of brown living in the Maldives, and come in all sorts of colors and sizes. The prettiest, in my opinion is the dark spots, an eel covered with small white spots black. You will find the dark hiding in holes and crevices between the rocks and coral.
5. Tortugas. Maldives is home to both the Green Turtle and Hawksbill turtles, and both are equally charming creatures. Both also are on the endangered species list and as such, are protected in the Maldives, but this does not prevent them from being seized by the locals for its shell, meat and eggs. There's nothing cooler than diving with a turtle or two – they are so peaceful creatures.
While there are many other amazing creatures in the waters around of the Maldives, if you are a diver, he was happy to see those five children during their adventure here. Happy diving!
