Bird Diving For Fish

One of the most difficult problems confronting the novice in surf fishing is to locate the company inshore fish feeding. As the beginner glances up and miles down the beach, is likely to scratch your head and wonder where to cast your lure or bait. For him, a section of crashing waves and the water seems much like any other, and finds it difficult to choose the best place for fishing.
Unfortunately for the newcomer, however, the ability to choose the best fishing spots in the surf needs time to acquire. Through years of trial and error experienced surf fishermen have learned that the points are the most productive and which to ignore. However, the beginner can spend hours fishing from a sterile site. What to do about it?
You can obtain information surf on hot fishing spots with friends and fishing gear suppliers. If you have a surf fishing buddy than a mutual agreement to keep each other informed when and where the fish catch in the waves. Or leave everything to the local fishery, compared to the store and talk to the owner or surf fishermen who have gone fishing.
Many fishermen Surf into the local store in spite of a large fish or buy a lure or line. The dealer gets a good idea of places that produce the fish and is happy to spend this information to their customers.
The onset often surf fisherman has a favorite way to locate the best fishing spots. He goes to the beach and looking for other fishermen. If you see a line of surf fishermen who joins them in the belief that they are the best fishing spot. This may or may not be true.
If fishermen are catching fish or have fished in that place recently, then it is a good idea to join them. But if no fish are caught you may be wasting time fishing there. You can often do better to find a less crowded place. In fact, even if some fish caught in the moment can still increase their chances, try a different place, where there less competition.
Surf fish like striped bass, bluefish, channel bass, weak fish and other often move quickly. They can be present and active in a given area and then within minutes, it disappears. So when these species move in large schools and feed actively smaller fish bait, the best way to locate them is to search for birds, particularly gulls and terns, diving and turning on the water. This usually indicates that the largest fish of the game are driving the bait below the surface.
When birds are melting into the distance, always a good idea to launch a metal squid or plug on the surface of the shock. If there are large fish feeding, the chances are good that you will get a strike. But even if the birds are out of range quality or just sit in the water, it's worth keeping an eye on them.
If the movement of fish bait on the shore, birds and game fish follow and that will often be able to reach them. On many occasions I have spent many hours during the day watching the gulls and terns sea and diving roll too far offshore to get a cast. However, towards the sunset, the bait often headed inshore and then there would be quick action as the largest fish followed them to the beach.
Sometimes you do not see any birds working, but will look good on small bait fish jumping or leaping out of water or large fish will slap the water with its tail or swirl, and chasing a smaller fish. However, it is an indication that fish are present and feeding. Then it's up to you to find the attraction they want.
Fishing can be fun in the surf, and along these lines, can be rewarding too!
