Diving Bird

Several Zen-like 'anti-guru ", as Alan Watts and UG Krishnamurti have argued about the active search futileness enlightenment through hard effort, asceticism, or other disciplines as diverse as energy loss can best be a more practical use. Let me explain further. Perhaps you've heard about the proven mathematical impossibility of never reaching their destination.
Let me explain further. Maybe you've heard of demonstrated the mathematical impossibility of never reaching their destination.
Here's how. You stand facing a wall. Its goal is to get elected to the wall action in this direction. But the ground rules of this state that each step you will take up half the wall. Sounds good so far! Thus to take the first step (which is halfway to the wall now). Now for the next step … halfway again! But after a few more steps you realize we're never going to do it!
So it appears the same from the point of view on Zen enlightenment. In fact, the phrase "pull yourself by your own efforts "(a favorite of Alan Watts) is simply another means of proclaiming the impossibility of the task.
I would like to offer several analogies that convey a similar meaning, just for my point of view.
Sinking in the quicksand
If you've seen some soul unfortunate sinking into a pit of quicksand, which is
- Tell them to fight harder?
- Tell them to move slowly and wait for foreign aid?
Of course, we all know the answer (2). Right? That's because the fight only serves to accelerate the collapse.
What if a saw was diving a shark? What if you were walking and he found a venomous rattlesnake or cobra? The same theory (walk slowly and carry a big stick) would apply …
You are not a perpetual motion machine
Do you Remember the toy the 'bird of consumption "of the 1970s than at first glance appeared to be a perpetual motion machine? The bird in the center pivots and shook up and down as if drinking water from a cup. In fact, the cycle will continue as long as there is insufficient water in the vase to keep your head wet, or as long as a temperature differential is maintained between the bird's head and body.
Or consider this – which was proposed in a long journey through the country in his car. At some point, however, you have to stop to refuel their fuel. Assuming you have enough cash and that the gas station in sufficient quantities, are likely to reach its destination. Note that this type of trip requires some kind of exchange of goods, barter or currency in order to work (you can use the detour gas in the middle of the night, but that is not ethical).
Spiritual Currency
Requires a spiritual journey or spiritual currency barter. In fact it seems to work well: the leniency of Creation requires only a small payment in the form of love, devotion and respect, to grant him grace and favoritism in answer to your prayers of petition.
But now back to the original dilemma, the misconception of the whole being able to attain enlightenment own efforts to spend enough (and exorbitant amounts of) energy in the pursuit of it. In order to combat guru UG Krishnamurti this was crazy sublime. Constantly warned those who seek spiritual counseling to simply stop trying – there was nothing to gain by this method. In fact, the method (of energy) actually takes more out to sea and away from your goal.
To go a step further confusion – also advised against that goal. To operate in "natural" state, it was necessary to clear the mind (thought energy), whether the objectives. Any objective.
Put your energy to good use
So how can our thought energy is put to better use? Not to worry the goal of enlightenment and the use of mind for the desired objective – to obtain the basic necessities of life. Everything else is simply a diversion.
Alan Watts used to talk about (in their audio conferences) which they knew they were living in an illusion (Maya) and those who did not. Actually felt sorry of those who had "awakened" and are firmly committed to the struggle of trying to get rid of the illusion (sound familiar …? Quicksand!).
Turning On the other hand, those who were on their daily lives completely rooted in ignorance of Maya, purchase throughout the game, "hook, line and sinker were actually to be admired, because although they lived in ignorance, who also lived in happiness (ignorance is bliss). They played the game with intensity, completely absorbed in the emotions.
How to unlearn
It might be wise to consider "unlearn" some of this desire tortuous to get to the wall using the steps and a half. Let us live our lives with integrity, love, compassion and full of emotion rather than waste in mind selfish, trips and chasing its tail. A receptive mind is a terrible thing to participate.
