Approximately how much will it cost to go to the 2012 Olympics?

Hey,

I have been obsessed with the past couple of Olympics and I have seriously thought of going to see the one in London. I am 15 now and I live in Canada and I will be 18 be the time the games are here. I really want to see the opening ceremonies, 100m dash finals, diving finals and some swimming events. Plus I also have to have money to stay in a hotel, for souveniers and buying food and to do all those little extras. I plan on working next summer to save up some money and then im going to countinue working for whole year (once im finished grade 12) up to the games. I would really apprieciate your help. Thanks.

As mentioned previously, flight and lodging would probably be your biggest expense, especially depending on where in Canada you would be traveling from.

As for tickets, According to the official London 2012 website, no ticket prices have been announced and won’t be until we get closer to their on sale date in 2011. The organizers promise that “our tickets will be priced fairly” and that a few events (mainly long road events), will be free. They have a goal of selling out 90% of the available tickets and think lower prices is the way to achieve that.

As a comparison, in Beijing, tickets for the Opening Ceremony ranged from $30C to $775C. tickets for the various other events were lower with preliminary events being priced at about half the amount of finals in the same sports. Some tickets were as cheap as $4.50C and some road events where there could be no official ticket gate were free.
