Diving Computers

I gave a lecture on altitude diving last night and I did put a "Tip Sheet" together. The following is a list of tips to remember when the altitude Diving.
1. Any diving between 1000 feet and 10,000 feet is an altitude dive
2. There is relatively little test data for the high jump, fly after diving or driving to altitude after diving.
3. At sea level, the diver is surrounded by an atmosphere of pressure. At 10,000 feet, the pressure is 714 atmospheres (30% decrease in pressure). This is the same pressure change as 10 feet of sea water, which we know makes a big difference in our no-decompression limits. As we shall see, this must be taken into account when using the RDP or any other dive table or dive computer.
4. In addition to decompression sickness, there is greater concern about hypoxia and hypothermia when divng in height.
5. Unless the actual depth becomes theoretical depth in a table and use special procedures being followed in the altitude of the pressure ratio may exceed the ceiling laid by the table or dive computer, raising the possibility of decompression sickness.
6. There are considerations of the various teams of diving at altitude, when: (1) Air trapped inside the cells of a wetsuit, it expands in height, possibly making it more buoyant. Make a check of buoyancy. (2) Meters different act differently in height, check with your manufacturer to measure and know what kind of caliber you have and how it effects of altitude. (3) Computer well to automatically adjust the elevation, the need to manually adjust for altitude or without height adjustment. Know your computer!
7. When using a Table RDP or immersion plan, see the theoretical depth conversion and the first frame of the dive plan using its theoretical depth, no depth real. Adjust your safety stop accordingly.
8. Ascender deep in a high dive at a speed not exceeding 30 feet per minute. Safety stops are mandatory in all dives.
9. Do not make more than two dives per day when in altitude diving.
10. At altitude, you must wait 6 hours for your body or adjust acclimitize dive profiles to take into account the residual nitrogen in the system as a result of increased altitude. When diving over 8000 feet, always wait 6 hours.
11. When using graphs and tables, round always conservative – either up or down.
12. Ask your agency for certification or Divers Alert Network to the recommendations of the altitude and flying after diving. Usually not recommended to increase its altitude of more 2000 feet for a period of 24 hours after diving.
13. Do not make repetitive dives at different altitudes. Always wait at least 6 hours when dives between altitudes.
14. If you are diving at altitude, find appropriate training and obtain certification. Fact sheets and documents found in Internet is no substitute for training. Dive within the limits of their training.
Safe diving!
