Anyone familiar with training Diving Dogs?

There is a Diving Dog competition in my area. I have a 6 month old Alaskan Klee Kai and I would like to participate in this year’s competition. Does anyone know how to train your dog to do this? I know it’s simply having your dog jump into water, but I could use some useful tips and tricks if you know of any please.
Its familiar to Dock Jumping, but in Diving Dog competition the dogs are judged on how far they jump from the platform and into the water. It’s a long and narrow tank with a huge feet/yarded ruler mounted on the side.

I wonder if this is simular to Dock jumping we have here in the US?
It is a competion for dogs where they jump off a dock or platform and swim out to a designated area and in some cases retrieve a object! The dogs are timed and given points.
