Australia question – anywhere in Sydney I should see?

Going down-under soon and I want to see cool stuff in Sydney – I can spend some cash but not a fortune as I’m planning on going to Cairnes diving too.
Also I would like to know about venues where I can meet hot single Australian girls who like British tourists. Just for fun – I’m not a sex tourist!

Well…you can forget the whole, “Oh god your accent is so sexy” thing down in Sydney, the place is crawling with Brit backpackers, so much so that there are TWO beach suburbs there that have nothing but Brits making up the population, so that novelty wont get you anywhere. These suburbs, btw are Cogee and Bondi Beach…BOTH excellent places though, especially Bondi Beach, a MUST SEE.

In the CBD of Sydney, you could try the Slip Inn or head down to Darling Harbour/Cockle Bay and try out the cool little clubs there. If you’re more of a noise maker, head to the backpacker bars in King’s Cross. Go to the Empire…24 hr club, four floors, good tunes. The Cross is also worth a look at night just because of the fact that red light districts are a load of fun. There are also hostels by the boat load in the Cross so other travelers abound.

Take time to just walk around the city too, it’s one of the prettiest modern cities I have ever been to. The Botanical Gardens are right beside the Opera House, just follow the quay keeping the water on your left and you’ll find yourself in these amazing gardens. Circular Quay itself is also awesome. Visit The Rocks (just ask and you’ll get there easily). The city transport system is awesome too…easy to follow and train stations every few blocks.

All in all, have fun…I lived in that city for two years and I have nothing but great memories.
