Humpback whales make their annual migration to warmer waters Queensland passed very near Cape Smokey jutting into the sea at this point on the coast.

The South West Rocks Country Club has an excellent 18 hole golf course, bowling, tennis tennis, pool, restaurants and bars. There is a hotel / motel in the center of town, a tavern along the Macleay River and two other motel complex with restaurants attached.

Most important to the caravan or motorhome is a tenant of camping and caravan holiday park facilities. There are four parks in the area, one in Horseshoe Bay, one in Trial Bay near the jail, both with facades absolute beach and spectacular views. There is one in Arakoon, a short walk from the beach of the Bay of First Instance and another outside the city to the River. These parks offer all the amenities required by travelers as places motor caravan, shower, toilet, laundry, cooking and BBQ areas.

Anyone who hire a caravan and travel to the east coast of Australia must not shirk South West Rocks, which will not be disappointed for taking the time to visit. South West Rocks is only 10 minutes drive from the main road from the Pacific by the shortest route. Located 40 kilometers from the nearest town of Kempsey and is halfway between the beautiful cities of the coast of Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbor.
