African Safaris FAQ's: Make an ideal holiday in Africa

How much time do I have available for my safari in Africa?
You should allow at least two weeks. Also, keep in mind (especially if you travel from the west coast) you need to allow two days trip to get to Africa and at least one day to return. For the game to see part of your safari (not including travel time to the regions of safari), a minimum of 5-7 nights in two regions of different preferred wildlife is ideal.

For example, if you choose to Botswana, it is better to include at least one field in the Okavango Delta (Preferably two so you can experience the Moremi Game Reserve) and as time permits, a camp / lodge in the Chobe National Park, a great contrast and excellent stone starting point for the Victoria Falls. On a safari in East Africa, including Tanzania, either road or fly in safari is suggested. And for that, you should allow a minimum 8 nights. If you would like to combine the Maasai Mara in Kenya, another 4 nights is the minimum we recommend.

When should I travel?

In general, temperatures are similar between the eastern and southern Africa from May to August being the months of winter. East Africa has a long rainy season (April-May) and a short rainy season (November). Once again, the holiday season (mid December – mid January) is "high season" in East Africa and Cape Town, South Africa, being the dry summer season. East Africa is known for its vast open plains and vast herds, especially during migration of wildebeest and zebra, wildebeest commonly known or annual migration between the Maasai Mara in the north and the Serengeti in the south. It is a show not to miss. Migration is difficult to predict but generally has a good chance to witness that between June to August.
