Often one or both grandparents live with their children and help care for children. Grandparents play a large role in the upbringing of children in Ukraine.

In families of the people tend to be larger, and the whole family works on the farm (or a piece of land they have) together. Most parents who live in the country want their children to acquire a higher education therefore sent to study in big cities. After 5 years of schooling, children become accustomed to the shape of the city of life and rarely home.

In their struggle for survival of people become less dependent on each other within families. But even the parents think it's important to teach your children the skills daily and basic values of life. Popular outdoor sports in Ukraine are soccer, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and hiking (walking in the forest). Fitness clubs have appeared all over the place. Yoga and martial arts are very popular. Mountaineering and rock climbing clubs can be found. Diving, sailing, golf and even recently have become available. Increasingly popular in Ukraine are all sorts of extreme sports (bungee jumping, rafting, mountain biking, caving, etc.) and, more generally, all forms of active tourism (hiking, biking, canoeing, horseback riding, skiing, etc.).
