Has anyone been to Marsa Alam (Egypt), without pre-booking of diving and accommodation?

I am approaching January 7 so after Christmas / NY and the people go to work, it should be low season. I wonder if I can go and find something when I get there and pay in local currency is expected to save a little. I am traveling alone and only supplements increase the price considerably. Any advice?

It is not advisable to go without booking accommodation. If you are not Egyptian, or have the residence, you pay normal price according to any currency.
