Empire Diving Nyc
Two NYC Subway questions and Restaurant questions?
#1. What subway should I take from Battery Park (Statue of Liberty ferry) to The Empire State Building?
#2. What subway shoudl I take from the Empire State Building to the United Nations.
What good restuarants, not high-end dress-up places or chain places, but not dive diners either, are there in the Empire State Building area?
Thanks in advance for the USEFUL responses.
More fun NYC questions. Here goes:
#1 – From Battery Park, find the Rector Street stop. Take the 1 train (on weekends, it may be the 2/3 train) to 34th Street Penn Station. Exit by 7th Avenue and 34th Street. Then walk two or three blocks east (past 6th Ave and Broadway) to 5th Avenue and 34th. That’s where the Empire State Building is.
As a backup plan, I highly recommend using HopStop.com. That should give you detailed directions via subway throughout NYC.
#2- From the Empire State Bldg to the UN, continue walking East on 34th Street until you get to Lexington. Go one block South to 33rd and Lex, where you’ll see a #6 train station. Take the #6 train to 42nd Street.
The Empire State Bldg area isn’t the best for food, although there are probably a ton of places around. However, Mustang Sally or Mustang Harry’s are both on 7th Avenue a few blocks south of Penn Station (approximately 7 blocks at most) and if you walk to 34th and 3rd, there are a ton of restaurants all by that corner. I suggest Baby Bo’s for mexican food (34th and 2nd avenue) or The Barking Dog (on 34th by 3rd Avenue), but there are so many around, that it might be worth walking around on 3rd Avenue from 28th through 38th. Hudson Place is also great and is located on 36th and 3rd. Frankly, you can walk from 34th north until you get to the high-40s, lower 50s, which I believe is the area where the UN is. It is about a 15-20 minute walk from 34th and 3rd, and a 30 minute walk (but a nice walk) from the Empire State Bldg to the UN.
Good luck.
