Diving for a first-timer! PADI Open Water cert?

I am planning a trip to Malaysia/Borneo this year to go Scuba Diving in the Sabah area (top dive spots islands Sipadan Mabul). I know that as a first time diver, I will need some kind of certification so I can experience some good dives, and there are lots of dive schools in Malay that offer a PADI Open Water course (4 days) which I am tempted by but thought would it be better to take the course here in the UK first? What are the costs like here? I know that they will be more expensive and that bothers me – in Malay they offer the course for very cheap, and it would probably be more enjoyable learning there. help!

Get your basic certification training as early as possible, as soon as you can. Do as much diving as you can before your trip as well. Some of the dive sites where you are going really require advanced level skills. The more experience you have before you go, the more likely you’ll be able to do some of the really great but advanced dives there. You’ll feel safer and more comfortable….more confident too.

The more diving you can do prior to your trip the better!

GO Dive! UK Style…
