Do you believe in the power of advertising?

According to an article i read the other day, sales of scuba diving suits have risen a hundredfold, they are being sold in Tesco’s, though why i have no idea? The advert on TV shows Martin Clunes wearing snorkle, suit and flippers and the sales for these items have gone through the roof. The same happened apparently when Jamie Oliver the chef was using nutmeg in his cooking, on his shows and in days all the shops had sold out. Does it work, i find most ads intensely irritating and switch off or over. What do you reckon, any ones that have influenced you into buying the product.
shows how closely i was watching, i actually thought it was an ad for Argos.
When i see a really irritating ads i want to throw a brick through the screen, worse ones like 118 118, most car ads, and of course all the ones that the damn BBC do to plug their programmes.
