Scuba Diving Sites Near Portland, OR?

I have been recently certified as an Open Water Diver. I live in the Clackamas, Oregon area.

My dive partner and I are looking for dive sites closer to home so the coast is out of the question for frequent practice. We’re looking for lakes or quarries in reasonable distance (about an hours drive).

I’ve searched online and the only things that come up are the coast and a little around Mount Hood. I -know- there are lakes around here!

Within an hour… there isn’t a lot. You can dive in Vancouver and Battleground Lakes, but it’s not great. The best is, of course, Puget Sound – that’s 2-3 hours north.

IMHO, Seven Seas Scuba is the best dive shop in your area. They’re up in Vancouver but their store manager (Jon) and training director (Nicolle) are very knowledgeable about local diving. They also do a seasonal dive in Clear Lake which just may be within an hour’s drive from Clackamas.

Or visit Sund Rock in W…
